

Citizens' Mission for a Clean Country - "Aththama" National Cleanliness Program
With the theme "Let's unite - Build a Clean Sri Lanka", and with the main objective of creating a beautiful island - a people full of happiness through voluntary community participation, the inaugural program of the Nikaweratiya Divisional Secretariat Division was held this morning at 293 Nikaweratiya Grama Niladhari Division.
Hon. Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Ananda Wijepala, Hon. Chairman of the Nikaweratiya Pradeshiya Sabha. Mr. Nilantha Bandara, Clean Sri Lanka Regional Coordinator Mrs. Sadaseeli, Nikaweratiya Assistant Divisional Secretary, Nikaweratiya Senior Superintendent of Police, Nikaweratiya Headquarters Police Inspector, OIC of the Police Training College, officers of the Irrigation Engineering Office, Nikaweratiya Agrarian Development Regional Officer and other officers, Residential Project Manager and other officers, Secretary of the Pradeshiya Sabha and other officers, Police officers, officers of the Nikaweratiya Divisional Secretariat, officers of the Wehera Army Camp, Nikaweratiya North Division Community Empowerment Chairman and members, Embalagodayagama Farmers' Organization officers and other members, members of the Public Safety Committee and residents of the area participated.

The 78th Independence Day Celebration was held at the Nikaweratiya Divisional Secretariat under the leadership of Nikaweratiya Divisional Secretary Ishani Gunaratne with the participation of all other staff officers and staff. Thereafter, a Shramadana program was also held to clean the office premises in conjunction with Independence Day.

Simultaneously with the 76th National Independence Day, the Independence Day celebration and plant planting ceremony held at the Nikaweratiya Divisional Secretariat was sponsored by the Nikaweratiya Divisional Secretary Mrs. Renuka P. Wijerupa and with the participation of the Assistant Divisional Secretary Mr. Priyantha Sri Wickramasinghe and other staff members.
