Nikaweratiya Divisional Secretariat Independence Day Celebration on the occasion of the 74th National Independence Day under the guidance of the Kurunegala District Secretariat on the instructions of the State Ministry of Home Affairs under the patronage of Mr. JMIRK Jayasundara, Divisional Secretary, Nikaweratiya and with the participation of the officers of the Office 2022.02.04. The national flag was hoisted at the auspicious time of 08:19 am and the project of planting one million saplings on the instructions of the State Ministry of Home Affairs on the occasion of Independence Day was carried out this morning covering all the Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Nikaweratiya Divisional Secretariat Division.
The main ceremony was held under the patronage of the Divisional Secretary at both the Wasiwewa Kirindigalla Wewa and the Wasiwewa Public Stadium. Planting of saplings on both sides of the Nikaweratiya Mahawa Road by Ven. Galapitiyagama Wimaladhamma Anunayake Thero, Anunayake of the Ramanna Maha Nikayaග Assistant Divisional Secretary Mr. Priyantha Sri Wickramasinghe and the officers in charge of the domain at the Karakole Grama Niladhari Division.
Under the direction of Nikaweratiya Divisional Secretary JMIRK Jasundara, a proper program has been implemented with the contribution of Samurdhi recipients to protect all these plants.
Further, tree planting and shramadana programs covering all Grama Niladhari Divisions were conducted with the participation of field officers including the Divisional Officers and Agriculture Development Officers and the general public.
